Mix of cross breeds *australorps, wyandottes, sussex, barnelvedor & unknown crosses. Prolific layers, lay small – large eggs average 600-700g doz, Chooks tend to get broody. Great for starting out in chicken keeping!

Plymouth Rock

Plymouth Rocks are the best allrounder, dual purpose chicken. Prolific egg layer up to 280 eggs and as a meat bird. They aren't good fliers as they are a heavier chicken and do well in confined areas. Good with humans and their pets. Quite happy to be held and picked up. We find our Plymouth Rocks will go broody once a year, they are quieter than our other noisier chickens even the roosters don't tend to crow as much. Our girls tend to lay 5 large sized eggs a week. The breed is very hardy in cold temperatures, we have plenty of frosty nights here, they still need plenty of shade in the summer like other chicken breeds. We just love their stripey feathers and think they are a great looking chook. Plymouth Rocks are an auto sex breed meaning you can tell males from females when they are newly hatched. Forget your ISA Browns add some pretty feathered Plymouth Rocks to your flock!

If your little chick turns into a rooster, keep your receipt and you can surrender him back to us. Please note this is not a refund on original purchase.

We hatch chicks via broody hen (when available) or via incubation (on demand). Prices must be paid upfront. If any do not hatch, we will refund the difference. Plymouth Rocks are auto sexing breed – easier to tell if male or female. Less likely to end up with a rooster!
